About The Department:
The Department of Energy Storage Systems was founded in March 2021 with a primary focus on research, design and manufacturing of batteries in addition to various battery charging and discharging devices encompassing a wide range of power, for several sectors such as battery production line, battery pack, and electric vehicles charging stations. Making the best of the technical competence of academics, graduates, and prominent scholars in the field of electric energy storage systems, the manufactured devices in this department are produced with the finest quality at a global level that competes with prominent and famous corporations both technically and economically.
Background:
The electric power grid is a complex system that necessitates instantaneous supply and demand for proper functioning. The power grid must have the capacity and flexibility to adjust its supply according to the demand of electric power. These variations in demand might follow predictable performance based on social behavior, or might be due to unpredictable reasons such as equipment failure and shut down. Energy storage systems play a vital role in balancing the electric power grid that enables higher flexibility and reliability. The underlying principle of operation is that during the times that supply is greater than demand, the excess of power generation is stored, and when demand gets ahead of supply, the stored energy is delivered to the grid for maintaining the balance. One of the best-known means of energy storage are batteries. In addition to utilization in power grids, batteries play an important role not only in our daily lives but also in countless industries such as electronics, medical devices, and so on. Hence, in recent years, numerous studies and researches have been conducted to improve battery performance which subsequently have led to the advancement of charging devices technology. One of the main objectives of the conducted research works and projects carried out in the Department of Energy Storage Systems in Sun-Air Research Institute is also performance improvement and optimal usage of batteries.
